50 MILER- CYCLING MERIT BADGE
Those scouts wanting to complete the 50-mile ride for their Cycling Merit Badge
must be physically ready and prepared with a well maintained bike. Any
boys that fits this qualification or that may want to do this ride please call
Mrs. Barnes, so she can advise you. She is the Cycling Merit Badge councilor.
If you want to do this ride you should be on your bike at least 5 hours a week
or be able to ride around the Rose Bowl 10 times, that is equivalent to about
30 miles.
Date: Saturday, September 15, 2001
Time: 7:30 am meet at St. George parking lot
Duration: riding time approximately 6 hours
Route: ride the San Gabriel River Trail to the beach
Celebration: BBQ for riders and families at Huntington Beach, coordinated by
Mrs. Lu
Return: bike racks and drivers are needed to:
1) Drop riders & bikes at
the trail head (Santa Fe Dam)
2) Pick up riders & bikes
from Huntington Beach
If you want to go on the 50 Miler you must RSVP to Mrs. Barnes no later
then Monday, September 10th. All participants must meet with Mrs. Barnes for a
short meeting prior to the ride. This meeting may take place immediately
following our first Boy Scout Meeting (8:30-9pm) on Monday, September 10th.
